Above is an interesting tidbit about Starrett acquiring a horse named 'El Granito'.  This was in the pressbook for RIDERS OF THE LONE STAR (Columbia, 1947).

Above, when Charles Starrett portrayed the Durango Kid at Columbia Pictures, he rode a white named Raider.

However, when Charles Starrett was without the Durango Kid mask, he rode a hoss named Bullet.

Above, Charles Starrett and two Raiders.  And no, you're not seein' double.  Many of the western heroes had several mounts which were their own, rentals or studio cayuses - one was the primary (and valuable) horse for closeups and tricks and the other(s) was less valuable and used as a chase double, etc.

Charles Starrett's note on the picture above reads: "Of all the 33 white horses I rode here was the best. Charles Starrett". Check out the Trusty Steeds page on White Hoss #3 - "Silver/Silver Chief" as this white steed is Silver/Silver Chief which was ridden by Lee Powell and Bob Livingston in the two Lone Ranger serials, and by Sunset Carson, more.
