Columbia In Transition
Bob Allen and Jack Luden

Richard S. Kumler lives in Nevada, and he and ye Old Corral webmaster connected in May, 2002.

Richard was born August, 1943 in Manhattan Beach, California to Jay Kumler and John Thomas Kumler.  Richard's father was a Navy pilot during World War II.  His mother Jay met Luden in 1943, and the pair were married in December, 1947 in Yuma, Arizona.

Richard writes: "my memories of him (Luden) were very good as he really did all kinds of things for me and we travelled a lot up and down the coast of California. I remember his Mom too. She was tall and always wore black. She and Luden resided together until my Mom and Luden married in Yuma in 1947."

Richard recalls his Mother telling him about Luden and the "bad checks".  Richard has notes and papers circa 1948 relating to an EKG and Luden's heart problems, and he also has some correspondence from Luden's mother noting that Luden's ashes were being sent to her in Encinitas, California in March of 1951.  And circa 1948, there was "The Seven Seas Picture Corporation" in which Luden was president.

Special thanks to Richard for sharing his memories and family photos as well as various other material relating to Jack Luden.
