Reed Howes - had a few sound era starring roles. Here's a couple examples.


Above is a crop from a full page ad from January, 1932 for Sono-Art/World Wide which was creating action and mystery flicks labeled as "Thrill-O-Dramas". Howes had the lead in this one. Other "Thrill-O-Dramas" starred Rex Lease, Grant Withers, and Kenneth Harlan.

Above is the title lobby card for MILLION DOLLAR HAUL (Superior/Stage & Screen, 1935), a crime yarn which was one of Reed Howes' last starring roles. On the left is Howes and "Tarzan the Police Dog", and on the right is Janet Chandler and William Farnum. Below is a crop from another of the MILLION DOLLAR HAUL lobby cards - shown from L-to-R are Janet Chandler, Robert Frazer and Howes.

Above from left to right are Joan Barclay, singing cowboy Tex Fletcher and Reed Howes in a lobby card from Fletcher's solo oater SIX-GUN RHYTHM (Arcadia/Grand National, 1939). Howes was the brains heavy in this oater. Note that Howes' six-shooter is butt forward and on the left side for a cross draw. He wore it this way in other films.

Ol' Charlie King has the drop on Ken Maynard, and by this time, both had added some extra pounds around the waistline. Dick Dickinson is on the far left and Bob Terry and Reed Howes (mustache) are between Maynard and King. Lobby card from LIGHTNING STRIKES WEST (Colony, 1940).
