Above is the title lobby card from GHOST TOWN GOLD (Republic, 1936), the second Mesquiteers adventure and the first with Max Terhune (and his dummy Elmer).

THREE TEXAS STEERS (Republic, 1939) was Terhune's last as a member of the Three Mesquiteers. No question that John Wayne is the lead and star - check out the size of the lettering.

Released in May, 1943, RIDERS OF THE RIO GRANDE (Republic, 1943) with Tom Tyler, Bob Steele and Jimmie Dodd was the 51st - and last - of Republic's Three Mesquiteers.

Make sure to look at the other western trio series included on the Old Corral.  There, you'll find more info on Ray Hatton and the Rough Riders, Bob Steele and the Trail Blazers, and Max Terhune and Ray Corrigan with the Range Busters.  In the 'Memories' section, you'll also find pics of some of these stars in later life, including Steele, Livingston, Corrigan and Terhune.  From the main Old Corral webpage, you'll find webpages on Tyler, Steele, Livingston, Corrigan, Renaldo, Wayne.  And under 'Saddle Pals & Sidekicks', there's a large section on Max Terhune and some info on Raymond Hatton.  And don't forget to visit Dennis Landadio's Reviews of the Mesquiteers films --- the first 20 films are documented with cast listings, plot summary and additional images.
