Dave Sharpe and John 'Dusty' King have the drop on Frank Ellis in TEXAS TO BATAAN (Monogram, 1942). This was the 17th of 24 films in the Range Busters series and the plot involved the trio delivering Army horses to the Phillipines. At the end, there's a radio broadcast announcing the Pearl Harbor attack and the three heroes decide to enlist.

Above from left to right are John King, Fred 'Snowflake' Toones, Charlie King, Rex Lease, Bud Osborne, Glenn Strange and Max Terhune in a lobby card from HAUNTED RANCH (Monogram, 1943). Dave Sharpe started the film, but left for World War II duty and Rex Lease came in to finish the film. The scene in this lobby card is just prior to the closing brawl ... followed by Fred Toones discovering the "Little Brown Jug" tune that must be played on the organ ... and playing the song opens a secret wall passage with the missing gold from the Denver Mint.
