When Johnny Mack Brown left Universal for Monogram Pictures, Tex Ritter wound up starring in several solo westerns.  In ARIZONA TRAIL (Universal, 1943), Ritter (red shirt) had help from Dennis Moore (yellow shirt) and Fuzzy Knight (uniform). That's Bill/Billy Wolfe on the far left, the old timer with the puckered up face is Erville Alderson, and Dan White is the lawman standing between Ritter and Moore.

Above and below --- 1954 at the Buck Lake Ranch near Fort Wayne, Indiana, with singing cowboy Tex Ritter.  The photo above includes the Red Birds singing group, the Lester Bricker Family from Geneva, Indiana, and a bunch of kids who just wanted to be in the picture.  The Red Birds recall that Ritter sang and played his guitar and was the ultimate gentleman, soft spoken and unflappable.  He also brought his horse White Flash with him (and the hoss happened to have a "Nature's Call" while on stage).

Above is Tex with his usual pipe, and below is Ritter and his wife Dorothy Fay Ritter.  Dorothy was a heroine in several westerns in the late 1930s and early 1940s, including four with Tex ... she was also the female lead in THE GREEN ARCHER (1940) and WHITE EAGLE (1941) serials.  THREE'S COMPANY TV star John Ritter is their son.  Minard recalls that these photos were taken in 1973 at the Memphis Film Festival.
