The above are from the Rinty Jr. northwoods adventure SKULL AND CROWN (Reliable, 1935). Regis Toomey is the star and Jack Mulhall is also a Canadian mountie. At around the ten minute mark in the film, Toomey jumps onto the top of truck. And from the film and the still above - and the crop/blowup below - it looks like Hendricks doubled Toomey.

Shortly after the jump onto the truck scene above, the SKULL AND CROWN film has Jack Mulhall chasing a baddie and doing a bulldog. In the subsequent brawl, it is difficult to make out the face of the mountie. But he loses his hat and the long, wavy hair on the mountie indicates that Mulhall's double may have been Hendricks.

Above left is Fred Kohler, Jr. with Hendricks in a still from THE PECOS KID (Commodore, 1935). This was one of a pair of mid 1930s oaters in which the younger Kohler was the lead and hero. In this one, Hendricks gets quite a bit of screen time and a few lines of dialog as a henchman in a gang of land-grabbers bossed by Roger Williams. In viewing this film, it appears that Hendricks doubled for Kohler, Jr. (wearing the outfit shown in the still above).

Jack Hendricks is on the left. Then leading lady Kathleen Eliot, Steve Clark, and Bob Steele. And on the far right is Rose Plumer. Lobby card from Steele's PAROLED - TO DIE (A. W. Hackel/Republic, 1938).

Hendricks is sitting at the table in the upper right on these two photos. At the table in the right foreground are Margaret Marquis and Robert Kellard (Robert Stevens). These stills are from the (s)exploitation film ESCORT GIRL (Continental Pictures, 1941) which featured Wheeler Oakman and Betty Compson.

These scenes with the dancer occur near the halfway mark in the movie. Recognize the dancer - see the blowups/crops below. Hint: think 1950s MGM Technicolor musicals. If this is Cyd Charisse, she would have been about twenty years old when she did this film.

For those of you with high speed DSL or cable Internet, you can stream or download ESCORT GIRL from the Internet Archive. The print quality is quite good, but the film is splicy. Go to: http://www.archive.org/details/Escort_Girl_1941
